We went to NYC for our annual trip to see the animated window displays and other fun things.\u00a0 Here is a summary of our day.\u00a0 We started our day at Macy’s.\u00a0 On 34th Street the windows show scenes from the movie Miracle on 34th Street.\u00a0 It is the same every year.\u00a0 It is a very cool display and it was nice this year as we had plenty of time to really study the displays.\u00a0 There is so much detail down to the buckles on the shoes and the pictures and wallpaper on the walls.\u00a0 I didn’t take pictures this year as I have so many.\u00a0 On Broadway the windows were about how Christmas decoratios are made – from ornaments to stars to tinsel and more.\u00a0 It was interesting.\u00a0 Their theme was “Believe” and inside was very very cool.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Across<\/a> \"Another <\/a>\"Tree <\/a>\"Joy <\/a>\"Glitter <\/a>\"Devotion <\/a>\"Laughter <\/a>\"Making <\/a>\"Mr. <\/a>\"Dad<\/a><\/p>\n

Then we went inside Macys – it is always so wonderfully decorated.\u00a0 I loved the red and the Believe theme.<\/p>\n

Then on the Fifth Avenue and Lord and Taylor.\u00a0 Their windows were focused on stories and fairy tales.\u00a0 It was fun.\u00a0 Inside it is very elegant and much more upscale than Macys – beautiful.<\/p>\n

From there we walked over to Park Avenue and up to Grand Central where we watched an amazing laser light show – it was very cool and very colorful.\u00a0 Unfortunately my pictures did not come out well.<\/p>\n

Then we went to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art up on the east side of Central Park.\u00a0 It is huge and so much to see on the three floors you can visit.\u00a0 There is no way you could see it all in one day and we didn’t plan to.\u00a0 We had a very nice visit.\u00a0 I would have liked to have taken pictures of the tree which was amazing but there were signs up and guards posted “No pictures.”\u00a0 I think because of the very old porclain decorations.\u00a0 There were angels all over the tree in various positions and an entire village under the tree including the nativity.\u00a0 It was an old Italian set with multiple collections put together.\u00a0 So here are some pictures that I was able to take.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Then we went downtown Manhattan and went to Lombardi’s for pizza.\u00a0 It was delicious and such a cool restaurant.\u00a0 They really only serve pizza and at 3:30 on a Tuesday afternoon there was a 20 minutes wait – a good sign of a good restaurant.\u00a0 Then we walked around Little Italy for a while.<\/p>\n

We went to a very cool place for dessert.\u00a0 It is called Rice to Riches and all they serve is rice pudding in about any flavor you could imagine with many toppings to choose from.\u00a0 It was delicious – and a huge serving and I couldn’t finish mine and the bowls are so cute with cute spoons and a cute top.\u00a0 I brought mine home to finish – Dad saved his also.\u00a0 I got Chocolate Hazelnut and Dad got Pecan Pie – we both had toasted coconut on top.\u00a0 We would go back often – totally yummy!<\/p>\n

Then we went to Rockefeller Center and to Saks.\u00a0 First the windows at Saks which were based on the book “A Snowflake Named Mike” – a story about a snowflake who doesn’t want to be like other snowflakes and is responsible for all snowflakes being unique.<\/p>\n

Here a few pictures of Rockefeller Center and the Tree with its 500 pound star on the top.<\/p>\n

Last of all we returned to Grand Central to go to the Metro North Shop and see their train display.\u00a0 It is very cool and set up with many trains going around a city similar to Manhattan.\u00a0 My pictures didn’t turn out but the memories are still there and I do have pictures from other years.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Then on to the parking garage to pick up our car and drive home.\u00a0 We used the subway to go from one end of Manhattan to the other and back.\u00a0 For $7.50 you can buy an all day pass and went and went.\u00a0 The subways are fun and it is not that hard to find your way around on them.\u00a0 It is much better than using buses which are above ground and in the cold (and it was so cold the day we were there), and we were comfortable below ground.\u00a0 As with each past year it was a great day and we had a great time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
